Bodrum Cup to Sail Through Istanbul, Thessaloniki, and Bodrum
The highly anticipated Bodrum Cup Sailing Competition is just around the corner, scheduled to take place from the 2nd to the 21st of October 2023. With its thrilling route from Istanbul to Thessaloniki and finally Bodrum, this year's event promises to be an exciting spectacle for both competitors and spectators.
In a recent statement published by Hürriyet Daily News, Süleyman Uysal, the organiser of the Bodrum Cup, expressed his pride in the positive impact the competition has had on the country and society as a whole over the years.
"We are proud to have provided benefits to our country and society with all the events, projects, studies, and valuable collaborations we have established," Uysal stated.
As the Bodrum Cup celebrates its 35th anniversary along with the 100th anniversary of the Republic, Uysal added, "We are excited to sail in Istanbul and Thessaloniki next year."
A remarkable participant in this year's race is 90-year-old Emin Buldanlı, who has been competing in the Bodrum Cup since 1989. In a recent interview with Demirören News Agency, Buldanlı revealed his ambition to enter the Guinness Book of Records.
"We have one more attempt. I am now 90 years old and competing as a licensed sailor. The record belongs to a Greek who is 91 or 92 years old. If God gives me the fortune and extends my life, I will take that record from him," he confidently stated.
Buldanlı's dedication and determination serve as an inspiration to all aspiring sailors, demonstrating that age is no barrier when it comes to pursuing one's passion. Selam Magazine certainly wishes him all the best with his endeavour to break the world record!
